Hi everyone.
I’m currently blocked from testing a local plugin I’m developing because my Figma desktop app suddenly refuses to open on Windows 11.
I've already cleared the caches, reinstalled, and gone through the full troubleshooting gauntlet with support, but the app just crashes silently on launch. Since I can't test local manifests in the standard browser, my development is completely stuck.
I’ve pasted the full system details and everything I’ve tried below. If anyone has found a fix for this silent crash, I’d incredibly appreciate your help/

The Figma Desktop App completely fails to launch on Windows 11. Double-clicking the application shortcut, launching from the Start menu, or triggering an open in desktop app redirect from a browser results in absolutely no visual response. There are no error messages, no black screens, no loading spinners, and the Figma icon does not appear in the system tray. The process appears to terminate or freeze invisibly instantly upon invocation.
System Specifications
-
Operating System: Windows 11 Home/Pro (64-bit operating system, x64-based processor)
-
Environment: Standard Windows (Not Windows ARM)
-
Default Browser: Brave Browser (Figma web client works here)
-
App Version Path Referenced:
C:\Users\Edefex\AppData\Local\Figma\app-126.5.6 -
Current App Directory Contents:
Figma.exe,squirrel.exe
Troubleshooting Steps Already Attempted (All Failed)
-
Clean Reinstallation: Uninstalled and re-downloaded the standard x64 Windows installer directly from figma.com (ensured it wasn't the ARM build).
-
Directory Purge: Manually wiped both the
%localappdata%\Figmaand%appdata%\Figmadirectories to completely clear local caches,Desktop,DesktopProfile,font_cache, andsettingsbefore reinstalling. -
Permissions & Flags: Verified file properties under
app-126.5.6\Figma.exe. The file is not blocked by Windows SmartScreen (no "Unblock" toggle present). Checked compatibility mode settings. -
Local Network Access: Configured Brave permissions to ensure
Local network accessis fully allowed and showing as "Connected" in the browser preferences. -
Admin Privileges: Attempted to execute via "Run as Administrator" (which triggers the expected installer blocking dialog) as well as standard execution (which results in total silence).
Context / Impact
-
Primary Use Case: I am currently developing and testing a Figma plugin.
-
Current Behavior: Because the web browser version of Figma does not support local plugin manifest testing, and the desktop client is completely bricked and won't open, I am entirely blocked from developing, testing, or running my plugin code.
what elese can I do im stuck here?
