Figma Design “Something went wrong”

I'm using a Figma Design file and repeatedly encountering a banner that says "Something went wrong" whenever I try to click on “Review and merge changes” or “Update from main” on a branch file.

When this issue occurs, I'm unable to open the merge flow, apply branch changes to the main file, or resolve merge conflicts. The action fails before the review/merge experience can load properly.

In the browser DevTools console, I'm seeing multiple errors and warnings related to the operation. As a result, I'm currently blocked from merging my branch back into the main file.

Could you help investigate the cause of this issue and advise on any potential workarounds or fixes?

What I’ve tried already:

  • Hard refresh / reload

  • Tried both Desktop App + Web app (both)

  • Try again button

  • Tried different browser (Chrome) / Incognito

  • Disabled VPN/adblock/private relay

What can I do? Please fix this ASAP.

Hi @Akash_Upadhyay, Celyn from Figma Community Support here.

Thanks for reaching out. I understand that you're encountering a "Something went wrong" error whenever you try to use "Review and merge changes" or "Update from main" in your branch file, preventing you from merging your changes back into the main file.

Appreciate you taking the time to provide such a thorough report, especially the list of troubleshooting steps you've already worked through as well as the screenshots. It’s really helpful to know you've tested across both the desktop app and browser, tried different browsers and Incognito mode, and ruled out factors such as VPNs, extensions, and cached data.

I've gone ahead and created a support ticket for you and included all the context you have shared here so the team can investigate this further. Your ticket number is #1961982.

It will be really helpful if you could reply directly to the ticket with a link to the impacted file, and invite support-share@figma.com with “Can View” access (this won’t impact your billing and will allow us to reproduce the issue and investigate further with Engineering).

Please keep an eye on your inbox, someone from the team will be reaching out with next steps shortly 🙏

Hi Celyn,

I've sent the HAR logs, specifications, and screenshots via email. I've also shared view access to the Design System main file and the Figma branch.
