Figma cursor is dramatically bigger

Hi, the figma cursor used to be small and neat. In the past few days it has suddenly grown much bigger and it glitches in the middle of work switching back to the original smaller size, and growing again when moved or used for an action. Any idea why this is happening?

Hey everyone, thanks so much for flagging this! 

We’ve seen several reports of this happening in Firefox, and the team has now rolled out a fix. Refreshing your tab should apply it, and your cursor + mouse interactions should return to normal.

 

 

If you’re still seeing this after a refresh or if you’re running into it on a different browser, let me know your browser and version and I’ll take a closer look with you.

I've read through your testing in full and passed everything on to the team, including the canvas-only behaviour, the Safari/blur finding, the cross-device results, and your theory about the cursor graphics update. The comparison you’ve shared with tldraw and Miro is also useful.

I'll update you here as soon as I hear back from them. Thanks again for the patience in the meantime!

Hey! Same here, macosx with desktop application, chrome and firefox still looks cursor in prototype view huge. Please fix, so annoying

Hey ​@sMao, sorry for the delay getting back to you on this! 

I've confirmed with the team that this comes down to how ScreenFlow captures and re-renders the cursor after recording, rather than something happening on Figma's side. Since the fix needs to happen on ScreenFlow's end, I'd recommend filing a report with their support team directly, that'll help get it in front of the right people there.

In the meantime, a couple of things that should help:

  • Resize the cursor directly within the ScreenFlow editor
  • Try another screen recording tool (e.g. QuickTime or OBS), which don't show this issue

Hey ​@Flavia Bernárdez, sorry for the slow response here, and thanks for flagging this!

To help us look into it properly, could you share a couple more details:

  • Are you seeing the enlarged cursor specifically in Prototype view, or does it also happen on the regular Design canvas?
  • What version of macOS and browser (Chrome/Firefox) are you running?

That'll help us figure out whether this is connected to what others have reported here or something separate going on. Appreciate you taking the time to report it!

I had seen a few similar reports with Figma where the cursor size suddenly changed, so it’s good to know this was a Firefox-related issue and not a problem with the mouse or display settings. Refreshing the tab after the fix is definitely worth trying before changing any system settings.
