Hello,

This is the third time I’ve had to reach out in two weeks regarding major ongoing issues I am experiencing with Figma’s education verification for me and my class. I am teaching a UX/UI design course at a college wherein we are utilizing Figma for design and collaboration, however we have had a number of issues regarding verification.

Most recently and pressingly, despite my verified status for a Pro Education plan, I am unable to set our class group to a Professional tier without paying (prior to the re-verification mandated in an email sent on September 6 the group worked just fine at a free for education professional tier). There is no option in the Group’s admin settings to upgrade the group without having to pay for each seat.

I’m posting about this here in the forum because when I tried to send a message to Figma support, my ticket (#1504933) was automatically closed and I was replied to by a bot which said that I was contacting support from a Starter account and that support is only available for those on Professional tiers. I double checked and verified that the account I was messaging from was indeed the same one I used for education verification, so I’m not sure what’s going on there.

Earlier, when I contacted SheerID support about another issue my students were facing, they instructed me to contact Figma support. From my perspective the issue does appear to be with Figma’s backend rather than the verification process itself, given that when I visit figma.com/education it says that I am verified successfully.

At this point, Figma’s issues are actively getting in the way of our class experience. From looking around the forum I do not appear to be the only educator in this situation after the re-verification announcement. Please advise as to next steps to setting our class’ group at a Professional tier for education, and/or help me understand the reason why I’m unable to upgrade the group. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Hey @eco - first, I’m sorry that the education transition has been disrupting your work. Definitely not intended on our part, and we’re actively working to adjust and improve the flow. Your comments and feedback are helpful, and I provided them to the teams working on this new system while we were researching your problem.

From what we found internally, both your ticket closing and your trouble with getting the education verification applied to your team (looks like one that includes ‘25’ in it) are connected.

We found an issue that was affecting your specific team mentioned above, that was not acknowledging your education verification. In turn, your ticket directed you here.

I believe that issue has now been fixed, and you should be able to go into your admin settings for the team and apply your verification to it now. Please let me know if you still have problems with that.
