I'm encountering a black screen when trying to open the Figma desktop app. Could you please look into this and help me resolve the issue?

write “chrome://flags/” in the url then search for WebGL Developer Extensions and WebGL Draft Extensions. enable them both.

Hi ​@Rameshwar, Celine from Figma here! Sorry to hear you’re running into a black screen when opening the desktop app.

Here are a few steps that often help resolve this issue:

  • Check your network settings (browser extensions, firewalls, proxies or VPNs) as these can sometimes interfere with Figma’s connection. Try disabling them temporarily. More information here.

  • Make sure your operating system is fully up to date.

  • Uninstall and reinstall the desktop app. You can download it again here.

If the black screen persists after these steps, I recommend reaching out to our support team for further investigation so they can take a closer look at it: Submit a bug report.

Have you tried clearing the app cache and reinstalling the desktop version? Also check your graphics drivers and ensure they’re up to date. If the problem persists, contact Figma support with your OS version and any error logs — they should be able to help.

Hi, thank you. I've tried all the suggested solutions, but unfortunately none of them have worked for me. I'm currently using Windows 11 Home Single Language, version 25H2. Could you please assist me further with this?

 Hey ​@Celine_ I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling figma,and also deleted the figma folder from AppData. Initially it works fine after a fresh install but after using it once or twice it starts exhibiting the same issues again.

Hi, I’m having the same issue right after a windows update. When I try to open the windows app all I get is a black screen. Nothing loads.

HI ​@Marc_Robinson, Yes, the same thing started happening to me right after the update too. The Windows app just opens to a black screen and nothing loads super frustrating. You're not alone in this!

Hey ​@Celine_ ​@Marc_Robinson ​@WilliamsWelsh  ​@lerra I’ve tried everything, including reinstalling the Figma desktop app. It works fine for 2–3 times after installation, but then the same issue comes back. Nothing has fixed the problem so far.
Please help me find a permanent solution.

The problem is not with the web app but the one you install on your windows PC so there is no URL bar or anything. Just a completely black screen, no error message, nothing. I just tried a fresh installation and it’s still the same.
