Can't delete measurements and annotations in Dev Mode

ANASTASIA_NIKULINA

Hello!

My team is working in Dev Mode, and we have noticed that measurements and annotations occasionally can’t be deleted. The measurements are only removed after reopening the file.

Is there a known fix or workaround for this issue?

Hi @ANASTASIA_NIKULINA,

I understand you're finding that sometimes measurements and annotations aren't being deleted.

I just tested this on my end, and it seems I can delete them without needing to reopen the file. If it keeps happening on your side, we'd like to understand what's going on more clearly.

Could you please let us know the following?

  • Is this happening only in the browser, only in the desktop app, or in both?
  • Which way are you trying to delete them? Are you seeing the same behavior whether you right-click and select "Remove annotation" or click it and press the Delete or Backspace key as mentioned in this guide?

Thanks,

Hi Junko3,

Thank you for your reply.

This problem occurs occasionally—I’d estimate it happens about 10–20% of the time.

Regarding your questions:

Is this happening only in the browser, only in the desktop app, or in both?

We usually use the desktop app. I tried using the browser for about two hours and also encountered the issue there—I wasn’t able to delete a dimension in the browser either.

Which way are you trying to delete them?

• Dimension Deletion: I click on the dimension and press the Backspace key.

• Annotation Deletion: I double-click on the annotation and click on the three-dots menu. However, when I click the three-dots button, nothing happens (there is no response).

Right now, the three-dots menu is working again, but I’m not sure if the issue might reoccur in the future.

I am also adding the following information.

My colleagues and I are working in different files. I’m currently using the Desktop App, version 125.4.9.

Hi there,

So sorry for the late response on this.

It sounds like you might have been affected by a past bug. Our annotations team actually pushed out a fix for this specific issue about a week ago. Apologies for the inconvenience this bug caused.

You can find more details in the following thread: https://forum.figma.com/ask-the-community-7/measurement-indicator-will-not-go-away-41300

Thanks,
