I am an admin on a paid subscription and have given a user in my team Full Seat access for FigJam. Now he’s trying to edit a FigJam file created by me, but he needs to send a request for edit. Why? He has a full seat and I don’t understand why he cannot edit or even create a new FigJam file.

Any ideas?

Hey again,
I sae that the support team replied to you. I am also sharing the response here, in case someone is having the same concern.

The reason the user is not able to create FigJam files in the team projects, is because they have Viewer permissions on the team. While they can’t make changes to team files or projects, people with view access can still experience collaboration in Figma. You will need to upgrade their team permissions if you wish for them to be able to create new FigJam files inside team projects.

As a reminder:

  1. Seat Assignments: These determine whether a user can edit files in Figma Design or FigJam. Since Heiko has a full seat in FigJam, he should be able to create and edit FigJam files independently of his team permissions.
  2. Team Permissions: These control access to team-level actions and files within the team. They don't affect a user's ability to edit FigJam files if they already have a full FigJam seat.

To allow your user to create and edit/create FigJam files inside the team's projects, he will need to have edit access to the team's resources. This does not mean he will need a Full Figma Design seat, as he will only be able to edit/create FigJam files.

You can find more details in our Team permissions guide.

Hope this helps, thank you!

Hey @Limor ,

Hmm yes this looks odd. Even though they have a Full Seat for FigJam, can you please again double-check if they have the correct role and permissions within the team where the file is located? (Usually this happens when they have can view permissions within the team)

I see in the backend that you've already reached out to the support team. Please continue the conversation so they can assist your further. They're currently waiting for your response (with the user's email address and the file link to review the permissions). Please check your inbox when you have a moment. Your ticket number is 1268848, for reference. Thank you! 🙏🏼
