Toggle layer visibility bug?

I’m experiencing a very strange and specific bug with the Layers panel visibility toggle.

What happens

  1. I click the eye icon on any layer to hide it, this works normally.
  2. After that single click, if I simply hover the mouse over other layer names (not on their eye icons), those layers also turn off one by one.
  3. The only way to stop it is to click anywhere on the screen.
  4. It feels like the “click and drag to multi-toggle visibility” feature is getting stuck in the “button still held down” state after a normal click.

It happens in every file (not file-specific).

A friend checked on his machine and does not have this issue, so it appears to be local to my setup.

When it started

I was working normally. I left the computer running for about 2 hours (no updates, no crashes, nothing unusual). When I returned, the bug was there and has stayed ever since.

What I’ve already tried

  • Restarted the PC
  • Cleared Figma cache
  • Tested in different browsers + Incognito
  • Unplugged my mouse, launchpad and XP-Pen tablet
  • Confirmed it’s not Windows ClickLock

Nothing has fixed it.

I recorded a short video that clearly shows the behavior.

Has anyone else run into something like this? Any ideas what could cause the Layers panel to get stuck in multi-toggle mode after a normal click?

Hello everyone! Thank you all for your patience while our team investigated the issue. This has now been resolved - you’ll want to refresh if you are using the browser, and make sure you’re using the latest version of the desktop app (go ahead and reload your tabs if you already are). Let us know if you have any issues!

Figma now automatically hides/show the layer my mouse hovers, without dragging.

Rep steps:

Clicked on the eye icon on layer 1 to hide it.

Released mouse button.

Moved mouse thru layer 2-5 without dragging.

Layer 2-5 were also hidden when the mouse hovered on them.

Latest version, happens on both of my accounts, happens on both web browser and the desktop app.

Tried a different mouse, still happens.

I’m having this exact issue, too. It’s happening in all of my files, in the browser, and the desktop app. It’s even happening across my work Windows pc and my personal Mac. Its driving me out of my mind.

When I toggle visibility of a layer or object in figma, and then move my cursor over another layer above or below it it hides or reveals those objects too, matching the action I just took. This is an awful bug and its disrupting my work flow.

I can't work right now due to a layer toggle bug.

Same issue here. Was able to bypass it using kb shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+H) to toggle layer visibility

I have the same issue, there's a few people posted about it in different areas now, hope this gets fixed it's impossible to work with. happens in all my figma files on desktop and in the browser, tried restarting, clearing cache’d files, restart computer and still does it.

Hello,

Since this morning I'm experiencing a strange issue in Figma.

When I click the visibility (eye) icon of a layer to hide it, I release the mouse button normally. However, if I move the cursor over the visibility icons of other layers, they also toggle on/off without me holding down the mouse button.

It behaves as if Figma still thinks I'm dragging across the visibility icons, even though the mouse button has already been released.

Here is what I have already tested:

  • Windows 11
  • Happens in both the Desktop app and the Web version
  • Happens in every Figma file (not just one project)
  • Tested with two different mouse
  • Restarted Figma and the computer
  • The issue started today and was not happening before.

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? Could this be a recent bug? Or am I stupid?

Thanks!

Same here. I’m using Figma Desktop on Mac, Tried shutting down and restarting. I have to move the mouse out of the Layers panel after clicking the visibility icon, otherwise any layer I hover after the click is toggled.

seems like it’s a fresh bug which happens across lots of figma users. it’s just happened to me an hour ago. nothing helped.

I've already reported the bug, no information yet. It's simply impossible to work…

Additional observations:

  • Hiding a layer with the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+Shift+H) and then hovering over other layers does not trigger the bug.
  • The problem only occurs in Design/Edit mode. In Drawing mode the Layers panel behaves normally.

Same here.
Well done, Figma devs - every update brings more issues.
Figma can’t pick up the instances from Library properly after slots feature.
Just a basic interface is broken now.
Who needs the AI agents, if app cannot provide basic functionality?

Adding my “dear god please fix this” appeal. It’s driving me insane.

Same issue here as well. Figma V126.7.10. Cant work like that. Whenever showing or hiding one element and if I then hover over others - that action gets applied to all of them when hovered as well. Oh it happens in the browser as well..not only in the app.

Hello,

I encountered what appears to be a bug with layer visibility toggling.

Expected behavior

Clicking the visibility (eye) icon should toggle only that layer.

If I want to toggle multiple layers, I should have to keep the mouse button pressed while dragging over additional eye icons.

After releasing the mouse button, dragging the cursor should not continue toggling visibility.

Actual behavior

  1. Click the visibility (eye) icon of any layer.
  2. Release the mouse button.
  3. Move the cursor over other eye icons in the Layers panel.

The visibility of every eye icon that the cursor passes over continues to toggle, as if Figma still thinks the mouse button is being held down.

The issue stops only after clicking somewhere else in the interface.

Environment

  • Windows 11
  • Latest desktop version
  • Also reproduced in the web version
  • Also reproduced in Incognito mode
  • Reproduced in every file (new and existing)
  • Reproduced with multiple mice
  • Reproduced after launching an older Figma version
  • Windows itself does not show any mouse button issues (tested outside Figma)

What I already tested

  • Different mouse
  • Different USB ports
  • Desktop app
  • Web app
  • Incognito mode
  • Older Figma version
  • Multiple files
  • New empty file
  • ClickLock is disabled in Windows
  • Mouse behaves normally in other applications

The problem only occurs inside Figma.

I have attached a short screen recording demonstrating the issue.

Thank you.

Reproducible both on Desktop macOS and web. That’s what happens when you rely on AI for development. Keep vibecoding.
