Hey @Max Ruso - sorry if this has been delaying your work. I know you’ve mentioned that you are still stuck on the same message.

Just to make sure I understand correctly: when you say files are too large, are you getting a memory usage error specifically?

If so, is the percentage of the usage dropping at all, or is it staying at the same threshold? See this help page for a visual and some additional things to check: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040528173-Reduce-memory-usage-in-files#alerts

If my assumption is incorrect, can you please attach a screenshot of what you’re seeing? A visual will be helpful for me to understand better.

Thank you!

Thank you - since this is surfacing in Figma Make (and you’ve already tried breaking up the file), I’m going to have our support team take a look at your Make files to see if they can get a better sense of what is going on.

I’ll be following up with you shortly -- please be on the lookout for an email sent directly to you.

Please let me know if you do nor receive that.

I do not know what this means or what type of files I need to delete.

Where do I go to know which files to delete.

Can I comment out or what?

Tonight I received the message for the 2nd time. A few weeks ago I had to resolve it by deleting a lot of less important .md files. Tonight, I deleted some features that I no longer needed and the files that went with them. The error went away and I was able to resume work, but I’m afraid I’ll hit the limit again and won’t be able to delete anything else.

I’ve run out of things I could possibly delete and I don’t know how to “break” the files and still have everything still work.

Hey All, thanks for continuing to chime in here!

Ksn has been out of office, so I’d be happy to pick up where she left off. This error typically appears when one or more files in the project are exceeding the 1MB size limit, which prevents the AI chat in Figma Make from working correctly.

If you have already tried deleting files that are too large in your Make file, please try checking each file indicated by the warning symbol next to the file name.

To address this, you can shorten or delete the problem files altogether. Once the problem files are fixed and/or removed, you can also prompt Figma Make to resolve any issues introduced by shortening the files.

Here's a link to our guide with more information on this: Troubleshoot in Figma Make

If the issue persists after giving this a try, would you mind sharing your Make file link and adding support-share@figma.com as a Viewer?
With your file link, we can help get you connected with our Technical Quality team to investigate your specific issue further.

What is the solution for project too large? is it the overall project or one file in particular? i rolled back to an earlier version but it does not seem to have fixed it. i deleted some md files but this does not seem to be making the impact that I had hoped for.

Project too large, try deleting some files.

Hi, I also got the message Project is too large, I only use 1 frame and try to make create an website with Figma Make. I’m trying to break into some smaller frame for this.

My memory is only 25%, so I think it’s fine

Hello,
My Figma project no longer loads (blank canvas and empty left panel).
Older versions were temporarily accessible but now the entire project fails to render.
Request ID: b576b663-d70b-4ead-8eb7-69…

It seems the project exceeded a server-side size threshold.
Could you reset or repair the file from your backend?

This is critical work and I’m the only user on a Professional account.

Hey @Riadh — thanks for calling this out, and sorry you’re running into this.

A few other designers have reported a similar error message recently, so I’ve merged your posts into a related topic where we can track this issue in one place. I’m looking into your report now and will follow up as soon as I have more to share.

Thank you for your patience.

Hi @QQuaan and @Riadh — thanks again to both of you for flagging this and for your patience while I followed up. The details you shared about the error message and memory usage are really helpful.

When you have a moment, could you try the troubleshooting steps that @djv shared earlier and let us know if that helps move things forward?

If it’s still not working after that, please check the email inbox tied to your Figma accounts and reply to the message there with the requested info. I’ve opened cases with our Technical Quality team so they can take a closer look at the files involved:

  • @QQuaan, your case number is: 1758748
  • @Riadh, your case number is: 1758164

Not that, in order to take a deeper dive, they’ll need:

  1. view access granted to support-share@figma.com for the file(s) showing the “too large” error.
  2. the file name(s) and URL(s).

Thanks for working through this with us — we’ll keep digging until we get this sorted.

Hey @Riadh, @Tom Reem is out of office today, but I’ve added your screenshot to your support ticket (#1758164).

In the meantime, as Tom previously recommended, could you please share the impacted file with support-share@figma.com and grant “Can View” access? Having direct access to the file will allow us to reproduce the issue and partner with Engineering to investigate more thoroughly.

Really appreciate your help with this!

I had to give up because of a lack of response.

My only solution was to roll back to an earlier version and then try to delete files or restructure large files.  I lost at least a week of coding until I found a version that I could roll back to.   If this happens again, I will not stay on Figma.

Hi everyone, if anyone could help with this ,would be appreciated. I got this error on my figma make AI project.

Project too large, try deleting some files.

I should note, I had this issue a few times before, but by just prompting something different on another part of the app, it went away and things resumed like normal.

Now this has stopped prompting altogether; it won't add anything else even though the app is for the file that's too large. I can no longer add anything.

Figma support gave me these 3 options in an email to fix it, but I'm not sure which to pick.

1. Connecting your Make file to a Supabase database and using the AI agent to offload larger assets (like SVGs), duplicated elements, or placeholder content.

2. Working with the AI to refactor and trim down unnecessary data while keeping the project stable.

3. Pushing your code to GitHub or downloading it locally and continuing development in an IDE for more direct control.

I'm not a coding person, mainly design, and I have no developers to look over this at this point.

I tried both ChatGPT and Gemini; the answer was to create new files and cut and paste parts of the file to another file that you create as a way to reduce file size.

As I follow, things seem to get worse as you begin to cut and paste things into newly created files, which just builds errors and never gets rid of the ⚠️ from any of my 2 files with the warning.

Thankfully, I have about 5 duplicates all at the same point, so that didn't bother me as much while testing the idea.

If anyone has had any luck 🤞🏽, or found the best way to approach this...

Maybe Figma could make the file limits 2-5 MB 😅?

Warning on App.tsx ⚠️ CharityHubSubpage.tsx ⚠️

Any suggestions would be great... 📝?

Following this closely. This error makes it nearly impossible to keep things moving without having to throw things overboard.

This problem causes a death loop. First, the AI is addicted to making .md files for everything. So I’m constantly trying to get it to not do so and deleting the .mds. The AI also does no real-time audit on the space needed to avoid running into this error, nor does it have a preemptive solution. So it just locks you out and leaves you to guess what can be deleted in order to unlock things. Such a waste of time.

Buzzmei Application

Think I'll try the supabase option.

HELPPP ME PLEASE

I’m experiencing an issue in a Figma Make project with the following error message:

“Project too large, please try deleting some files
Request ID: 2df1d45d-a89f-4aa5-8e16-d2dc3368bbc1”

I searched the community and found information from Figma stating that there is a 1MB size limit, which may prevent the AI chat in Figma Make from functioning properly.

However, in my project, no files appear as indicated in the documentation. I have already removed all unnecessary files (for example, old .md prompt files), but the error persists.

I also saw that it may be possible to share the project with support-share@figma.com for further investigation.

Could you please assist me in resolving this issue? I can share the project for review if needed.

Looking forward to your guidance.
