I am trying to nest one component within another in Figma, but i’m experiencing an issue where the content of the nested component isn’t visible after I moved it with absolute position. I’ve seen this method used a lot when building components and have done it myself before. Does anyone know why it’s not showing up? It is clearly nested and I can see the purple bounding box. I’ve tried moving it to the front or rearranging the layers and it still appears to be hidden. Help!

Hello Brooke, thank you for reaching out! I wasn’t able to reproduce this on my end. Are you able to share a screen recording with us?

Hi, I have the same problem! Wasn’t able to resolve it yet 😕

Hey @Marta9, sorry for the issues! Could you give me more information on this? Is this happening only on a specific file? And is it happening in the browser, desktop app or both?

For quick fixes, can you please force-quit and open Figma in a new browser window (or force-quit the Figma Desktop app and restart it.) Also, please clear out the cache. Here are some information to troubleshoot: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/360040523973-Troubleshooting-checklist 1

Are you able to make us a short video? Please include the whole window, with the properties and layers panels in view and relevant layers expanded, and select any layers you’re having trouble with so we can check any relevant settings. We use these videos to try and reproduce the issue in our own files and so showing all steps needed to reproduce the behavior is helpful.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, I think I found where the problem was, it wasn’t a malfunction. When creating a variant with two elements: one without an absolute position, the second with an absolute position, the first one had the option ‘Clip content’ checked (in Design menu) which caused the other element to disapear. When I unchecked the ‘Clip content’ option, the element appeared.

Thanks for replying. Hope this solution will help someone else too.
