Missing the new left navbar announced at Schema 2025

Hi! During the opening keynote at Schema 2025 (on October 28), the Figma team announced a new left navbar as part of the updated UI, mentioning it would start rolling out the following week.

It’s been a few weeks since then, and I’ve already received an app update, but I still don’t see that new sidebar.

Is the rollout still in progress, or is there something I need to do to enable it? Thanks!

Is it still rolling out @Celine_ ? I’m the only person in my immediate team without it now.

Hi @Iain M Norman, thanks for checking in.

I totally get how that can be confusing when others on your team have it and you don’t.
We're slowly rolling out the new left navigation bar to users in Figma Design. We don’t have a timeline to share right now, but we’ll update this thread as soon as we have more to share. Thanks for your understanding!

Totally understandable @Celine_ , thanks for updating us. After that it’ll be the wait for slots, which is going to be a total game changer for me.

I have updated Figma a while ago and I still can’t see the new left panel navigation. My colleague in the same organization does have it working. I have reinstalled, reloaded, tried in the browser and I do not see this feature anywhere.

See screenshot for version number and missing left menu.

It’s still rolling out, not everyone has it yet (and there is no exact date when it will appear either)

That is very strange, it was mentioned in the release notes early January as part of the released software with no mention of a rolling release. I have access to other features after that it seems, like the rasterize feature and the new tab navigation.

Hey @MarjoleinKl, I totally understand the confusion here!

Thank you @Nellya for jumping in to help! We’re slowly rolling out the new navigation bar to users in Figma Design. While we’re rolling this out, users might see different versions of the Figma UI until we’ve fully rolled out the new navigation bar!

Appreciate your patience while it makes its way to your account!

I still don’t have the sidebar, although it rolled out to my teammates about six weeks ago.
It feels like Figma is becoming slower and more unstable as it shifts toward AI coding and vector design features instead of focusing on UI and design system workflows.

Any update on the left sidebar? It’s been three months and it still hasn’t been rolled out. When will there be an estimated timeline for when it will be available to all users?

Iain M Norman

It was billed as Jan update IIRC. Clearly it’s taking longer.

I have it now on two old accounts from previous employers, but not my current account.

It’ll come in time I’m sure. Everyone else in the team got it back in Jan. Mine’s the newest account. Wonder if my lack of usage on this new account puts me to the back of the queue?

But I have had the new Make embed feature already.

Who knows...

Yeah, this roll out has been terribly inconsistent. I have team members in the same organisation who have the new layout, yet I don’t.

I’ve been waiting 2 months now. I’ve sent support requests and get the same generic feedback.

Same here, still don’t have it on one of my accounts either. It’s a bit confusing seeing teammates already using the new layout while mine looks the same in Figma 😅

Guess it’s just part of the gradual rollout, but yeah… the wait is real.

My Co-worker has the new left sidebar on her personal account. We’re still waiting at the office. This sucks very hard that we have to use two workflows! Hopefully it will update fast.

Does anyone have an update yet? I’ve been waiting for about three months. It’s weird that we already have slots, but it’s taking three months for this to be fully rolled out… maybe they should spend less time on all those AI features?

Hi, it’s me again.. I see the conversation has been marked as ‘solved’, but it’s not solved at all!!!! This is really taking far, far too long. It’s a real shame, Figma!! It just goes to show where the focus lies: on all the AI stuff and not on people!!!!! I think this is absolutely outrageous. I’m going to look into alternatives to Figma. Does anyone know of a good replacement?

Hi @FelaNova, thanks for following up!

I hear your frustration, and I’m sorry this has taken longer than expected.

Just to clarify, the updated navbar is still in the process of being rolled out gradually. This is intentional, so the team can closely monitor performance and avoid any disruptions as more users gain access.

Because of that, not all accounts receive it at the same time. I also want to acknowledge your point about the thread being marked as solved. I understand how that could feel confusing given you’re still waiting, but the Community team only marked that previous post as the best answer to pin the latest update from our team to make it clear to all users in this thread that the navbar is still being rolled out.

We appreciate your patience here, and I’ll share your feedback with the team. While I don’t have a specific timeline to offer, the rollout is ongoing and you should see it become available to your account in a future wave.

Sitting in the same boat as all you guys. Got Slots, but no new UI, but my jr. designer does and has for quite some time.

Is there any update, when the new layout will be available for all users? It is really annoying, that members of the same team have to work with different layouts and different possibilities.

Hey, totally hear you both!

I don’t have a new timeline to share just yet, but I’ve passed along your feedback about the inconsistency to the team. This is still being slowly rolled out, so it’s expected that some users may see different versions of the UI until the rollout is complete.!-->

Really appreciate your patience in the meantime!

Hi, Appreciate there’s a lot of other priorities for Figma, but any update on this.
Half the team have it, half don’t?
The inconsistency is strange and frustrating.
Thanks

I get that you rollout in waves. I get that you are cautious. But anouncing it as available and 8 Month later we are still waiting ist BAD communication.

I don’t need a newsletter with lates shit, to then know i need to wait 8-12 month before it arives at my desk. Time to market should be measured as “all customers have it” not  “when did we roll out a first wave” or “time of anouncment”.

“monitor performance”, please! I call BS! If you roll it out to a couple 1000 people you will know if it causes issues. no need to wait so long.

Give us a propper “restore version” option, or a “experimental branch” that we can subscripe to. Have seen it many time in other products. its sad that we need to point you to alternative product launch options.

That from a company that should know better than any other about user engagement is disappointing

Same here. My colleague has had it for months.
Pretty frustrating when Figma announces new features and there are clearly users who can’t use them even months later….
Released in January and now nearly the end of May. That’s not funny. When I have colleagues using and learning new tools this is actually professionally harmful.
