I really like the new variables feature but currently I’m struggling with it… I built some components, where I used variables within the text. When the value of the variable changes, the text style changes, more precisely the individual font will be removed. Is this a bug or does anyone has a hint for me?
Even when I have the font installed locally the bug still occurs so I don’t think that’s an appropriate resolution 🫠
Hey Mayen,
Sorry to hear this is happening! It seems like your font is displayed correctly in Edit Mode, but with a different font in Preview mode (let me know if this is correct).
Do you see any missing font warning? To check if you have missing font, follow the steps in this article: here
These kinds of strange font issues are nearly always caused by the use of conflicting font files across your team. This means that editors on a file are using different versions of the font with slightly different sizing or spacing which then affects the file each time it is opened by someone with a different version. Its possible that someone has a version of the font you are using installed locally.
Our Help Center has more information about resolving this kind of issue: Manage conflicting fonts
We suggest that you have all editors remove these fonts if they are locally installed. Then please ask all editors to install the same version locally. After doing so you will need to restart Figma to serve the correct font version.
If this is affecting component appearance you can launch quick commands (cmd /) then use the “Regenerate all instances” tool to refresh all of your instances at the same time.
If it is affecting text or style appearance or settings outside of components you can use quick commands to “Select all with same font” and then “Recompute text layout in selection.”
If the issue still persists, I’d recommend you to reach out directly our support team: here Please also include a copy of your file and share it to support-share@figma.com so we can investigate it further. Thanks!
