Mac - How do you create custom shortcuts for actions that are NOT in the toolbar menu?

How do you create custom shortcuts for actions that are NOT in the toolbar menu?

Example, for the shortcut “go up to parent layer/group”, the shortcut is SHIFT + ENTER.

This action isn’t in the toolbar menu anywhere… so my question is, how can I assign a custom keyboard shortcut in Mac?

Use an app that can redefine shortcuts, e.g. BetterTouchTool or Keyboard Maestro. It’s as easy as setting a trigger shortcut and then the action shortcut.

So, I need to buy another paid application to customize my keyboard shortcuts. Got it. AWESOME!

So what you’re saying is that it isn’t possible to use Figma to designate app keyboard shortcuts from the system preferences?

There probably are some free apps that can do that but I don’t know any, haven’t searched. I’ve been using BTT which is one-time purchase for life and it’s pretty useful all around, not just for Figma.

For Windows there is a free app called AutoHotKey.

Figma doesn’t have any features for changing shortcuts natively. You can vote for this suggestion: Customizable shortcuts
