For the past few months I’ve been able to see my images on my file but for the past few days all the previews have disappeared & I’ve tried to update Figma, update my computer, clear my Figma cache and nothing has worked. The images are still within the Figma but I just can’t view them

Hi Lydia7,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with images preview on Figma! Is it happening in your browser, desktop app or both?

To cover some basics, please check your internet speed and connection to make sure your device is online.

If you are using Figma in the browser: quit your internet browser application, then relaunch it. And, for the desktop app: right-click on the file’s tab and select Reload Tab.

Could you also please confirm the following:

  1. Do the images load if you open this file in another browser, the desktop app or an incognito/private window?

  • Our supported browsers are Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge.

  • If the issue seems specific to browser, we’d suggest disabling any ad-blockers, antivirus firewalls or clearing the cache.

(Ad Blockers or a similar extension will prevent images from loading)

  1. Do the images load if you connect to a different network? (e.g. mobile hotspot)

Usually, this issue can be fixed by clearing the cache. Can you do me a favor and clear once again your browser cache as well as the desktop cache to see if that helps, please?

As a reminder, you can clear the desktop app cache on a Mac in the Help menu under Troubleshooting. If you’d prefer to manually clear your cache you can:

  1. Quit the Figma desktop app

  2. Open Terminal.app and enter the following command: rm -rf "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Figma"

  3. Try opening the desktop app again

You can clear the desktop app cache on Windows under the toggle-arrow at the right of the top toolbar under Help > Troubleshooting. If you’d prefer to manually clear your cache you can:

  1. Close the Figma desktop app

  2. Open the Start menu, and paste in this, followed by enter: %APPDATA%\Figma

  3. In the window that opens, delete the Desktop and DesktopProfile folders if they exist

If this doesn’t help, please share a copy of your file to support-share@figma.com to this file as an editor (this won’t affect your billing at all) and a link of your file so we can try to replicate and investigate further. (If you can’t share it publicly, feel free to share it to our support team here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new) Hope it helps!

Here’s the deal everyone. Figma can’t refresh the image cache. Somehow the image cache has been deleted. The only way to fix this is to save your file locally, it will then repackage your images in your file. Then import the file back into Figma, it will then reimport new cache. The good news is… you can import a copy… called it “yourfile_v2”. Then you can open the new file next to your old file (same time) and the old file will update the image cache based on your new import. The good news is you can retain your URL links with this trick.

Is there an update other potential solutions @Celine_Figma ? I’ve tried everything from various community threads.

This worked for me! Thanks!

This one worked for me! Thanks a bunch Bus

Simply deleting and adding back the image (CMD+Z) made the items appear in the prototype for me…

So many items were missing from the prototype despite everything being inside frames. But deleting the elements and then undo-ing it worked for me

@Celine_

I hope you're doing well.

Over the past few days, while working in the Figma desktop app, my images suddenly stopped showing up — it's only displaying solid colors where the images should be. I’ve checked everything and even looked through the Figma Community for solutions, but nothing has worked so far.

Strangely, the Figma web brower displays everything perfectly.

Can you please help me figure out what's going on?

this is ss on my desktop app

and this is my web-brower

Thank you so much, @Celine_

I truly appreciate your help and guidance throughout this process. The Figma team has been incredible — they quickly identified the issue, and my images are now showing up again. I'm really grateful for the prompt and effective support!✨

Hey @Celine_ , I hope you're doing well.

Unfortunately, the issue has returned — my images have gone hidden again, and it's really affecting my work. I'm quite stressed as I rely heavily on Figma for my projects, and this interruption is causing delays.

Could you please help me once more, or guide me on the next steps to resolve this permanently?

Thank you so much for your continued support!

Best regards,
Muhammad Waqar

Hi @Muhammad_Waqar, I’m sorry to hear the issue has returned, especially with how much it’s impacting your work. I completely understand how stressful that must be!
I’d recommend to reply to your existing support ticket with any recent screenshots or steps that seem to trigger the issue (your case will be re-opened automatically). That’ll help our support team to investigate more effectively.
If you can’t find your previous support ticket, feel free to submit a bug report.

Thanks again for your patience 🙏🏼

Hi @Celine_ I am facing a similar issue, and have tried everything that has been mentioned in the above thread, can you please arrange a resolution for this ASAP, I am facing loss in work here!

Hey Sanchit, apologies for the delay in my response, I was away.

Sorry to hear you're also running into issues. Since the suggested steps haven’t resolved it, the best next step would be to have our technical quality team take a closer look at your file.

You can submit a bug report directly here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. That way, the team can investigate further, and advise you for the next steps, thank you!

  1. Open Terminal.app and enter the following command: rm -rf "$HOME/Library/Application Support/Figma"”

So everyone is aware, this will also delete preferences and sign you out of your account!!! We should have been warned. This is bad advice.

Annoying but what worked for me was clicking on the image in the fill one-by-one to reload any of the problematic ones.
