Question

I can't open because WEBGL isn't supported?

How do I access the project when this comes up?
Uh oh… we can’t open that file

We can’t open this file because WebGL isn’t supported, or is disabled, in your browser. If your browser supports WebGL, check out this help article to find out how to enable it.

Thanks.

I did receive help for this issue (thanks for that) but it resulted in no results. Seems to be a chrome issue.

Hey everyone,
As @Gayani_S mentioned, please check if you see the same error in the desktop app. Please go to https://get.webgl.org/ and check if it shows WebGL is enabled. If you do not see a spinning cube you can enable WebGL by following the link on that page that says ‘visit the support site for your browser.’

To cover some basics, it's also important to ensure your browser meets certain requirements for optimal performance. Here are the steps to prepare your browser:

More details in our guide: How do I configure my browser of Figma?

For others, who are having specific trouble with WebGL on Chrome, our internal team is aware of this issue. Please follow these instructions from our technical quality team if the issue still persists (Thank you @Mila_G for reaching out to our support team directly about it!):

As this doesn't seem like a hardware issue or related to Figma or Adobe, but it does seem related to a browser configuration in Chrome that's somehow overriding and toggling off your WebGL. Looking in Google's forums, it seems like others have reported similar issues, so it might be best to reach out to their support for assistance as they'd be better equipped to troubleshoot.

It might be helpful to capture your GPU report after enabling Override software rendering list and GPU rasterization for their reference. Please remember to restart Chrome so the changes take effect.

In the meantime, we’d recommend using another browser moving forward.

For others who are still having issues and need further investigation, please contact our support team directly by filling out this form here: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360001744374

To help our team investigate, please include the following information:

  • Your Figma account email address
  • Your graphics card information, (For example, for Google Chrome, please chrome://gpu in Chrome and save the page as "Webpage, Complete" format using Control+S on Windows (Command+S on macOS).)
  • Your video clip / screenshot when you encounter the issue
  • console log capturing the issue

This will help our team to better investigate your specific issue. Thank you!
