If the file you’re working on is living in an Education team, you’ll need to verify your education status. For an Education team, it’s required that all users verify their education status to be able to edit files.
Unfortunately, it isn’t possible to combine paid members on the Professional plan with free members on the Education plan within the same team. The Education plan is team-specific, not account-wide. You can find more information about this at Verifying education status.
One possible solution would be to consider removing the education status from the education team. If this sounds like a good fit for your needs, the team owner or admin has to reach out to our support team directly by submitting a ticket.

I know this question was asked a while back, but I think this is so related, that wanted to ask my follow up here.
I am currently starting to guide an intern who is a member of an Education team. The student is doing internship and we will be collaborating on a Figma design. As stated by @Junko3, Education team and Professional plan are not combinable. If I want to collaborate with a student being part of an Education team, what are my options? Get a Professional plan for everyone?

Hi! I understand it can be frustrating with the limitations of combining Education and Professional plans. Here are a couple of options:
- Everyone can switch to a Professional plan to avoid the restrictions.
- Another option is to remove the Education status from the team by contacting the admin.
