Question

Education Plan Expiration but i have starter plan?

Kholmes

Hi there!

I received an email regarding my education plan is expiring in 4 weeks. I have submitted an inquiry but was bounced back saying that I have a starter plan.

I am confused whether what plan I am on and what would happen to my projects that I have created if they were to expire and how I can prevent that. Is there a plan that I can use if I am also mostly working on these projects just for myself and not anyone else?

I saw your problem. After expiring of education plan, you can get some times to download your file. Once when your plan expired totally, your file will also be locked.

If you again come back into the education plan, you can recover your files.

Thanks for the reply @subashchandra

It says I’m on starter plan when I sent my inquiry - is there a way to double check what plan I’m on to make sure?

I noticed on my figma that I’m in a team that is tagged “edu” but projects that are my own does not (I have around 5 projects).

Is the email suggesting then that the team under “edu” is the one expiring and not my personal projects?

You are welcome, @Kholmes

There is no effective way to see the Figma plan. But when you switching your team, you can see the plan status. There are tags which defines “edu” , “pro”. If you want to replace file , you can keep it in “edu” file.

Cool @subashchandra

It seems I am on a starter plan - does the education expiration email I received will affect this? Most of my personal projects doesn’t have the “edu” tag besides the one team I am in.

Cool @subashchandra

The inquiry I received mentioned that I’m on starter plan - will that have any effect on my personal projects? The only tag that has “edu” I see is in one of the teams I was added to but my personal projects are not.

Hey @Kholmes, thank you for reaching out! I checked internally and looks like you’re on the education plan. I can send you a DM with the exact date when your education plan expires if needed.

When your Education plan expires, your work will not be deleted but you will not be able to edit any files on your education team. If you have more than 1 project, 3 files of Figma Design and FigJam each, they will be locked out (cannot be edited) until you resubscribe. After expiration, you can upgrade your team or transfer 3 files to a free team to continue working on them.

To help with accessing your files once the education plan expires, you can upgrade your team to the Professional plan if you want to keep all your files and projects as they are: Upgrade to a paid plan

Alternatively, you can reduce the number of files so that it fits within the limit of the free Starter plan which is 1 project, 3 files of design and figJam each. I recommend to move additional files to your Drafts section, or create other teams and move the files there.

Here are some helpful articles for your reference.

Also, please take a look at the updates to Figma's pricing, seats, and billing experience: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/articles/27468498501527-Updates-to-Figma-s-pricing-seats-and-billing-experience

I hope this provides some clarification. Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist you with, and I will do my best to help.
