Hi, I tried to follow the advice given here, but constraints are still not showing in my right tool bar. I double checked and the objects are in a frame, not in a group, I also made sure that the main frame is not in the autolayout mode, so that it doesn’t affect the object inside of it, but either way, nothing changes after switching from layout to autolayout. I also checked in the Prototype section as someone here advised, but still nothing, there is no such option visible there. I tried clicking on both the whole frame and the object alone to try each of the proposed options, but constraints are still not visible. Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong? 😦 Thanks
Hey @Domi2, sorry for the trouble and delayed reply!
Are you still having trouble finding Constraints?
They should be listed in the Properties Panel under the Position section.
If you still don’t see this icon on your end, are you able to share your file with us?
If so, please include a link to the file directly within this thread, and share edit access with support-share@figma.com.
@dvaliao I’m having a similar issue. The Positions panel appears, but the icon is not where you’ve indicated above. I also tried switching back to the old UI, but the Constraints panel is now missing. I’m tearing my hair out trying to complete an assignment!
Hey @peggi_jeung1, sorry for the trouble!
Keep in mind that you can only apply constraints to a layer within a frame.
In UI3, be sure that you’ve selected the layer in a frame in order for the Constraints icon to appear.
In UI2, be sure to also select the layer in a frame in order for Constraints to appear.
@dvaliao Understood! Still no icon in new UI nor a Constraints panel in old UI
Hi there,
Just to confirm, please know that you can apply constraints to any layer within a frame. It’s not possible to apply constraints to layers outside of a frame, or layers in an auto layout frame.
- You can also apply constraints to frames you have nested within other frames.
- You can apply both horizontal and vertical constraints to layers.
- You can’t apply constraints to groups. A group will inherit its bounds from the layers contained within it. They aren’t considered a single layer with bounds.
