Presentation mode shows wrong component instance

I’ve been experiencing this issue where when I’m in presentation mode and I click through frames, some of my components are displaying with the incorrect instance. I tried experimenting with the “Reset component state” option in the prototyping options, but this didn’t have the intended effect.

For context, I did copy/paste these frames from an earlier iteration of a project I was working on (originally created in January 2023). In the original file, the protype interactions/component instances display as expected. I tried deleting the prototype interactions on the new file and rebuilding the interactions, but I’m still left with the same problem. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Here’s a Loom video of my issue.

Hey Philip, sorry to hear this is happening!

Thank you for including the Loom video! We saw that you also reached out to support directly on ticket #811036. If possible, can you please also include a link to the file and share it with support-share@figma.com, so they can take a closer look?

Philip_MacDonald

I already included a link in my original support ticket and shared with support-share@figma.com. Is there a way I can view the existing ticket #811036? I don’t see any way for me to access open tickets…

I did discover a sort-of work around, although it doesn’t entirely solve my issue. I noticed that if I rename components/layers to have unique names, this sort-of fixes the issue. However, it becomes very tedious, because then each layer needs to have a unique name in order for presentation mode to work correctly. Here’s a Loom video of what that looks like.

Unrelated to my issue, but any idea why I wouldn’t be receiving email notifications on this thread for new replies, even though I’m watching the thread?

Hey Philip, thanks for the context and follow-up!

You actually only included the Loom video and that it was happening both in-browser and using the app in your original ticket. You should be able to see the full email thread of your ticket history in your most recent reply from support. For your convenience, we’ve already passed the file link from this topic on your behalf over to support. They’ll review and reply as soon as they can!

Ok thanks. FYI, not to get off topic, but when I submitted the ticket, I entered the Figma URL under the optional URL field. I’m noticing now that the field disappears as soon as you select from the “Please choose your issue below” dropdown. It seems like an orphaned field that doesn’t actually come through in the ticket.

Got it - thanks for the screenshot!

Sorry for the oversight on our end! The file was definitely already linked to your existing ticket. Support is working on reproducing the issue with your file, so they can find and provide you with a solution. They’ll send you an update as soon as they know more.
