Hi all, my toolbar in Figma program suddenly disappeared, and I don’t manage to make it come back. I saw similar issue sraised on this forum that it might be a bug. Does anybody have an advice? It’s highly appreciated

Hi @Anna105, thanks for reaching out—I can see how a disappearing toolbar would be frustrating, especially when you’re in the middle of working.

It’s possible that the interface switched to the older UI version by accident. Here’s how you can switch back to the latest UI3 version:

  1. Open any design file in Figma.
  2. Go to the Help menu.
  3. Select Use new UI (in beta) to revert back to the latest layout.

Here’s a comparison to check if you’re seeing the old UI:

Old UI

New UI (UI3)

If the toolbar still doesn’t appear after switching, here are a few more steps to try:

If none of these steps resolve the issue, please let me know—I’ll be here to assist further!

Many thanks for this quick response and guidance – unfortunately, clearing the cache does not bring it back either.
And I cannot find the “Use new UI” button, I only get displayed the following options to choose from:

An other alternative I could try or why can I not switch to the new UI – according to the pictures, I’ve already had the new UI before till last week before it disappeared.

Hey @Anna105 , I am working closely with Gayani, happy to help!

From the background and the details shown in your screenshot, it seems that you are in a FigJam file and not in a Figma file. Can you please confirm it?

The toolbar in FigJam:

To cover some grounds, please make sure you meet all requirements to get the desktop app and the browser requirement here.
Do you see any error message?

Another workaround that may be helpful, can you try to force-quit and re-install Figma to see if that helps? (if it only happens on desktop app)

Also as Gayani mentioned, can you please also confirm us if this is happening in browser, desktop app or both?

Please also share full screenshot of your Figma/FigJam file so we can better visualise what you see on your end. Thank you!

Hi Celine, thanks for also supporting!
I’ve the issue both on Web and desktop.
And yes, it is FigJam.

But now is looks a bit different, see above – can it be that my editing rights switched to view only rights and that’s why I do not have the toolbar displayed? And I just need to make sure to get edit rights back?
best regards and thanks

Hey @Anna105 , thanks for the details. After further investigation, this look like a bug. We’ve reported the issue internally.
Thank you for flagging this, and for your patience in the meantime 🙏

I did the clear cache on the desktop app. The toolbar is at the bottom of the app window. After 30 minutes of searching, I see it now.

Hello, I had the same problem, it worked like this : On the F Menu, check for Actions > Search (tap UI), then you will see “Use new UI (beta)” checked. Uncheck it, and that’s it.
