Subject: Urgent: Unable to Open Figma File
Hi there,
I’m encountering an issue where I can’t open a specific Figma file. I’ve tried accessing it both through the browser and the desktop app, but unfortunately, Figma runs into a problem in both instances.
This has been ongoing for a week now, and I’m unable to edit the file or even restore a previous version.
Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot this issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Hi there! Sorry to hear this is happening.
To troubleshoot this, would you be able to check a few things for us?
- Does this happen on both the Figma desktop app and Figma browser app?
- If this is only happening in the desktop app, we suggest that you clear the cache on the Desktop app. Here is our guide to do it: here
- If this is happening on Browser, can you specify in which browser? Chrome, Safari?
If this doesn’t help, it would be great to have a URL link of your file , and share it with support-share@figma.com, so we can try to replicate. Please fill out this form to reach out to the support team: here
It happens on both on the Figma desktop app and on Figma browser app
I have tried with Chrome and Microsoft Edge.
I have filled out the form and shared the URL Link

Hey Lucile! Thanks for confirming and glad to hear it’s been solved.
For others in the community that may have a similar issue, the workaround here was to restore a previous version of the file.
Close all tabs where you have this file open, and in the file browser (not the editor):
- Hold down the modifier keys and click on the file in the file browser
- Mac: ⇧Shift ⌃Control ⌥ Option
- Windows: Alt + Shift
- Select Restore from version.
- Click Restore next to the appropriate version.
This will help to go back only one or two versions.
