Slides: Auto-update prototype device frame/screen when changed

Curtis_Giberson

I added a prototype in Slides that was of a mobile app flow. I forgot to change the prototype in Figma to set a device (Ex: iPhone 14) so I went into the Figma design file and set the device. Then when I went back into Slides it still showed the old prototype embedded with no device. I didn’t see a way to refresh or update the prototype. The workaround I found was to delete the prototype and try adding it to slides again. That worked but it would be better to have it automatically update or a button to reload it.

Hey @Curtis_Giberson, thanks for this feedback and again, apologies for the delayed reply!

The Slides team confirmed that this is currently expected behavior, so I’ve updated your topic into a feature request. Glad to hear that you found that deleting the prototype and adding it again would update the prototype device as a workaround.

The Slides team will continue to monitor this topic’s votes and feedback for future improvement!

I also am building resources for my organization that require slides to auto-update components that are updated in the mother file. It would be revolutionary for our product processes if this capability was enabled.

Upvoting this! I’ve started using Figma Slides to present design mockups to internal stakeholders. Ideally, when I make updates in the Editor, those changes would automatically reflect in Slides—but only when I choose to enable it.

That said, I’d want this to be an optional setting, not a default. In many cases, I need to preserve static versions of my slides for historical reference, especially after a round of iteration. Having control over when linked content updates would make this much more powerful and flexible.

Also - it would be incredibly useful if comments left on the slides could be tied back to the original linked frames too.
