There is a bug in the copy link to selection function.
When using the pop up menu and selecting “copy link to selection” it will copy the link to the exact thing that I’ve selected (yay!)
The “copy link to selection” function also has a shortcut key, ⌘L (yay!)
When using the ⌘L shortcut the link copied only points to the frame/section that the selected object is within, not the original selection. This means that the pop up menu option and the shortcut for that menu option will point to two different links (boo!)

Thanks, Mia. The link should be to the selected frame, no matter where it is. This is how it worked in the past, so not sure why it was changed. I don’t think a link to an example file is necessary. The issue and expected behavior seem pretty straightforward.
An update. It actually seems that using the right-click menu item “Copy link to selection” takes you right to that frame (even when inside another frame) but the keyboard shortcut Ctrl-L takes you to the parent frame. This is still the same issue the user who started this thread reported in July. Would be great to fix this and make all sharing actions consistent with “Copy link to selection”.
Hey All, thanks again for your feedback!
I’ve moved your replies to their own feature request.
The team recognizes that if you have a frame selected in a design file and click Share, the link will take people directly to the selected frame. And if the selected frame is nested within other frames, Figma will take users to its parent frame.
Thanks for flagging that the copy link to selection shortcut should have a consistent behavior with generating a share to selection link from the Share button.
The previous topic’s fix was for share to selection link pointing to a cover page rather than the selection. We’ll pass this new topic onto the team to work on a fix.
@dvaliao Please don’t change that “Copy link to selection” takes you to the selected frame. This is the expected behavior, as pointed out by other users in the thread. It should NOT take you to the parent frame. Taking you to the selected frame should be the consistent behavior across all Share actions. If someone wants to share to the parent frame, they will select the parent frame. Thanks!

@dvaliao We are using the Figma Rest API: https://www.figma.com/developers/api#get-file-nodes-endpoint to get the selected node information, which relies on the Figma copy link to contain the correct node-id, if the user selects the node in the nested frame, it returns the id of its parent node, which will cause a lot of trouble for our current workflow.

Have the same requirements, it is strongly recommended not to modify this behavior.
