I had a chance to test the new file format and have a few comments.
- Switching between Slide view and Grid view modes is hard. The button is on the top left as the only important element there, and everything that was there before has been moved to the bottom. There is a keyboard shortcut (Shift + .), but the keys are far apart to do it with one hand.
- Layers are only visible in Slide view. Will it be possible to show them in Grid view as well?
- Layers can be hidden, but thumbnail slides unfortunately cannot. They take up a lot of space. An option for a compressed version of them would be useful.
- Normally, as you select something by clicking the mouse, the item is outlined in blue. When you are in Slide view mode, clicking on a slide doesn’t give any confirmation that you are now operating that slide. Only the bar on the right changes, but that’s not enough for me.
- In Grid view mode, clicking on a slide doesn’t do anything, you have to click above the slide to bring up the bar and be able to operate the whole thing, which is different from a normal file.
- In Slide view mode, you can’t check the distance relative to the edge of the slide, only relative to the elements. You have to switch to the other mode to be able to do this.
- No rules. In my opinion a big minus.
- There is a limitation to zooming. As you place something far outside the work area, zooming in, the program automatically zooms you towards your slide, making it difficult to access what is moved away.
- I’m not sure if I’m wrong, but adding a text style is only possible in Slides mode. It would be good to have it in Design mode.
Do you have any opinions, or is it just me feeling these things?
