I’m planning to buy a Figma Professional Team account. If I create a team and invite my friends to join the team and projects, will they be able to edit with their free accounts? Or do all of them also need to have a Professional Team account?

Here’s how it works: the Professional plan subscription is billed per team, not per individual. This means your team will be charged based on the number of active editors within the team.
If you invite your friends to your team and grant them editing access (a “full seat”), they’ll count as editors, and your team will be billed for their seats. Even if they’re on the free Starter plan or part of another Professional team, their editing rights on your team will incur a cost under your team’s subscription.
In short, your friends don’t need their own Professional plan accounts, they can join your team with their free account, but your team (You) will cover the cost of their editing access on your team.
