I’m the only one with edit access on that file, I’m modifying a published component in a simple way (change bg color on one of variants for example).
I go to “Publish” and Figma detects dozens of other components of the same library that have supposedly been modified and are flagged as such. Those components don’t contain my modified component as a child, and are totally unrelated.
This happens several times per week.
What could this be ?
Figma doesn’t show what properties or how the components change in any way, and I don’t find any API methods to create a plugin that would show this information (differences between published version and current version).
Does anyone have any clue about this please ?
I am looking for this all over the place and I cannot understand why any of these questions have no reactions and have been closed. Is so little people concerned about this? Or am I doing something wrong if I have this issue almost every time I am publishing a library? help

Hi @petra4, Thank you for reaching out with your concern.
I just want to make sure I’ve got this right—are you experiencing an issue where a “Modified” label appears next to an asset in the Publish Library modal of a library file, even though the asset hasn’t been modified?
If so, normally, this should only appear if there has been a modification. Is it possible that someone might have accidentally altered some of these assets in the library?
If you’re unsure, a good step might be to check the file’s version history to see any recent changes. Here’s a guide: View a file’s version history
If this doesn’t resolve the issue, I would recommend reaching out directly to our support team for further assistance: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new
When you contact our support team, please include the following information:
- Please use the email associated with your Figma account
- Please add support-share@figma.com as an Editor to the affected library files (this won’t impact your billing), and include the direct links to the files.
Hope it helps. If I’ve misunderstood anything, please let us know.
Also, if anyone from our community has additional suggestions, feel free to share them here.
Thanks again for reaching out.
