I am experiencing issues when exporting PDFs. When exporting all slides as a PDF, the first page is either not included, or the background becomes purple.

Could you please check if the first page of your slide file have a Fill value set? To check this, follow these steps:
- Switch to the Design mode
- Check the Fill settings in the Design tab on the right sidebar
I conducted a test on my end, and if a slide is missing a Fill value, the slide may not be imported. This could be the reason for the issue. I hope this information helps!
