Question

Figma setup/installation not working

Yann_Chwen_Ng

I’ve been using Figma on my Macbook Pro for years. Today, Figma suddenly could not launch: I opened it from my dock and the icon showed that Figma was running, but I could not find/open a window for it anywhere.

So, I deleted Figma and reinstalled it. After downloading the Figma Setup dmg, I right click to open, it launches Terminal which prompts me to input my password … then nothing happens. Sometimes, I get a box saying that the app failed to launch.

I’ve tried this with multiple versions of Figma from the official website, and am on macOS Sonoma 14.5.

Under my Macbook’s settings, apps from the App store and identified developers are allowed.

Please help – I really need Figma to work again so I can do my job 😓 Thank you!

This is a virus!

Figma

Oh my gosh, you’re right. It was totally a phishing attempt. I see on Reddit that it’s been reported to Figma in the last few days.

Do you have more info about this phishing attempt, and what I should do now that I’ve downloaded and opened their files? 🤦‍♀️

Report this to Figma support: https://help.figma.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

Also change any passwords you typed as they are now compromised. If you reuse the same password on multiple websites, change it everywhere.

You may also want to scan your computer for malware, I don’t know anything about that so try searching on reddit or something to find good macOS malware scanner app or something.
