Feature Request: Customizable Default Zoom Level for Prototypes

I would like to suggest a feature enhancement: allowing users to set a default zoom level for prototypes, such as “Fit Width.” Currently, prototypes open at “Actual Size,” which often requires immediate adjustment for optimal viewing.

Enabling a customizable default zoom setting would improve the presentation and accessibility of prototypes, ensuring viewers have the best possible experience from the start. This adjustment would be a valuable addition to Figma’s powerful suite of tools.

On a related note, although it may not exactly match your request, you currently have the ability to adjust the dimensions of your prototype frames in addition to using preset devices.

  • Custom Size (Fit): A custom size automatically scales the design, so that it fits within the screen you are viewing the prototype on.
  • Presentation (Full): Displays the prototype at a size that allows it to be displayed on the screen in its entirety.

Yeah, this is a constant pain point.
If the default is the current size, it can be changed to fit the screen, which makes way more sense.

This would be amazing for remote user tests, instead of having to tell them “press Z” at the start of the call. Especially with the “responsive” zoom option, this would make sure that users always get the right view.

Sometimes my prototypes display a bit bigger than I would like

I would like this to work like zoom in your browser. E.G. like in Safari where you can use CMD+ or CMD- to quickly set zoom level. Does not need to be a permanent slider taking up space in the UI
