Child overlay swapping parent overlay

I run into this use case alllll the time and it drives me crazy that this isn’t supported in Figma:

I have a modal that is opened as an overlay. Within that modal is a dropdown, which will alter the contents of the modal. I would LOVE for a click on the dropdown options to be able to swap the variation of the modal.
