Use styles in other styles

Problem
Currently you can’t use color styles in other styles like grid or effect styles.
However this is very helpful for building design systems. Otherwise when changing a color that is used in effect styles you have to manually change it in all effect styles (which is a lot of work and can lead to bugs by forgetting it).

Solution
One possible solution would be to allow us to use color styles within the other styles.

Am I the only person who feels this pain or do others run into this as well?

This is doable in CSS, so it makes sense to include this in Figma. For example:

:root {
  --color-primary: gray;
  --color-background: var(--color-primary);
}

I don’t personally like this because it distances itself from how we would use CSS variables on the web

I would really appreciate a way to specify dependent colors, based on HSL and/or HSB/V and possibility to export that to CSS vars.

Last night I couldn’t sleep. I thought about how great it would be to implement nested colors in figma. It’s great that I’m not the only one. We need this feature! 😁

Yes, please! This would be an excellent foundation for design tokens!

Please implement this 🙂 When creating a new color style allow me the option to choose from existing color styles. This is one thing I do miss from Sketch.
