+1 make it happen please! “It’s on our radar, they said”!
Don’t forget to make it possible to use percentage values in max- and min-width and also in variables!

We need the ability to use percentage values in…

  • sizes
  • variables
  • max and min width
  • everywhere if possible! :’)

gotta use-case where this would be great. +1

Really would like to see this added as an option. Would make building responsive layouts so much easier.

It would be very useful to use with auto layout.

I regret that it is not already implemented.. So +1 !

+1 It would be very useful for designing responsive.

August 2025 and still I cant have responsive objects/containers based on %? Can someone tell me how to make bar charts scale based on container…? This seems it should be an easy concept but apparently I'm missing something?

You’ll have to calculate the sizes yourself, I’m afraid. Or provide data to a Figma plugin that creates charts for you (but then you’ll have to restyle everything). Or, in case you want the charts to be dynamic, you could use variable modes in which you set the different sizes per mode (or ask AI to calculate these values for you, based on data)

It’s 2025 and we’re still designing websites without percentage values 😭

I’m honestly shocked that percentage-based width and height still don’t exist in Figma, not in Design, and not even in Figma Sites, where responsive behavior should be a baseline, not a luxury.

I rely on Figma to build accurate, realistic prototypes. But without percentage-based sizing, everything feels rigid, artificial, and far from how real interfaces behave. I was excited about Figma Sites because I thought it would finally allow me to create prototypes that actually behave like the real thing. Instead, I’ve hit wall after wall of limitations.

I genuinely wanted to keep my entire workflow in one place and stop exporting prototypes to Framer just to get proper responsiveness. Figma Sites looked like the solution...until it wasn’t.

It’s extremely disappointing that such a fundamental feature is still missing. Percentage-based sizing shouldn’t be a “nice to have”; it’s essential for anyone trying to build modern, adaptable interfaces and prototypes that behave like real products.

Please prioritize this. It’s long overdue.

+1, Framer has this and Pen Pot also has this. I don’t know why Figma is so lacking behind on this front.

It looks like this topic is overlapped with this: Use percentages for heights, widths, paddings, gutters in auto layout | Figma Forum

+1, @djv would you be able to merge this into this thread as well: Autolayout should support percentage based widths | Figma Forum

I solve it by using grid autolayout and stretching a frame to for example 2 out for 5 blocks. Then I get proportional scaling. Not ideal but also works.

Gonna go ahead and +10 this. Is there anything in flight on the dev side to implement this? As said in numerous posts, this is one of the most common ways apps/CSS define sizing and autolayout perfectly lends itself to this concept.

chris_hatfield

This must be the number one requested basic ability lacking from the program. +1000

Its interesting because I think the devs/designers of the product KNOW and deeply understand the utility of this improvement, and on the surface it seems “easy” if only because the fields for specifying sizes can take inline math (ex. “800/2”), so I’m sure there is some technical consideration making it more complex.

If nothing else I’d love to hear, even in an overly technical way, why this isn’t a simple add, given how frequently its been requested.

I join the assembly. This feature will be really useful in relation to responsive design.
