"Unsubscribe" link in Figma emails doesn't take you to full notification preferences and feels scammy

When I get a Figma marketing email, and I go to the bottom and hit unsubscribe, why on God’s green earth would it be one of those hidden partial unsubscribes that says “Unsubscribed from marketing emails!” with NO link to turn off all email notifications or manage all notification preferences???

It frankly reads as unprofessional and scammy. Like the emails aren’t even useful at the top of the marketing funnel, do you need people for your email contact list that bad?!

This isn’t my first, or my second, paid Figma account. I don’t need to be at the top of your sales marketing pipeline every 3 months when I need a new account. I’m a marketing professional just like you. At least give us the option. We are power users a lot of the time, so making us hunt through our account settings to turn it off is such a poor customer experience.

Please fix this! It’s basic accessibility and is a more faithful and honest interpretation of the CAN-SPAM compliance than the sneaky loophole that’s popular to use now. I expected better of Figma to be honest. And if the law changes to cover this loophole it is an easy case for customers to win, with a big financial penalty for every single email.

Please stop being scammy and at the minimum give us a link to the full settings if not a full unsubscribe.

Hi @Silasxx, thanks for your honest feedback!

I understand your frustration. For context, the unsubscribe link is scoped to marketing emails specifically. Per our Privacy Policy (Section 8, "Your Choices" → Email), you'll still get transaction-related emails and certain non-promotional communications (like Terms/Policy updates), which aren't opt-out-able. That's why the link doesn't route anywhere else.

But I hear you. Adding a link to full notification preferences from that confirmation page is a reasonable ask, so we’ll keep an eye on this feature request for our Email Marketing team. In the meantime, if you want to manage things like file comment and invite notifications, that's under Settings > Notifications (account menu in the file browser). More about Managing your notification preferences is available here
