  1. If I move a configuration of shapes and words, and then realize it’s not what I want, I can’t undo and go back to how I had it set up.

  2. Add as much context as possible (screenshots, Figma files, mockups, etc.)

I've run into something similar before. In my case, Undo worked for edits like resizing or changing properties, but after moving a group of layers around, it didn't always restore the previous position as expected. It might be worth checking if you're in the correct editing mode or whether a plugin or recent autosave affected the history. Hopefully someone from the Figma team can take a look if it's reproducible.

One issue I’ve encountered is that when I move a group of shapes, text layers, and other design elements as a single configuration, the undo functionality doesn’t always restore the layout exactly as it was before the move. After repositioning the elements and realizing the new placement isn’t what I want, I expect pressing Undo (Ctrl/Cmd + Z) to return everything to its previous state. However, in some cases, the arrangement, alignment, or positioning of individual elements is not fully restored, making it difficult to revert to the original setup.

This becomes especially frustrating when working on complex designs with multiple grouped objects, nested frames, or auto-layout components, as recreating the previous arrangement manually can be time-consuming. It would be helpful if the undo history consistently captured the entire move action and restored all affected elements precisely to their original positions.

Steps to reproduce:

Create a design with multiple shapes and text elements.
Group them or place them inside a frame.
Move the entire configuration to a different location.
Decide the change is not desired and use Undo.
Observe whether the original arrangement is restored exactly as before.

A more reliable undo behavior for grouped movements would greatly improve workflow efficiency and reduce the risk of losing carefully arranged layouts.

I've experienced this as well. Undo seems to work fine for most edits, but occasionally after moving a group of layers, it doesn't return everything to the exact previous position. It can be pretty frustrating when working on detailed layouts. Has anyone noticed whether this happens more often with grouped layers, Auto Layout frames, or specific plugins enabled? 🤔

Absolutely agree Carl. It happened with me as well & I have it sorted. Thank you for the comment. Appreciate it.
