Is it possible to obtain a free subscription to the Professional package for non-profit organizations, and what evidence is required for this?

As a nonprofit, we reached out to the Figma sales team last year (2024), and received a free Figma subscription via their educational license.

That was someone internal being “nice.” I’ve approached them before on behalf of a NPO and we were told to pound sand. They are as greedy as Adobe yet Adobe at least has non-profit accounts.

To all of us Nonprofits seeking discounts,

What if we collaborate as group? We could contact TechSoup and GoodStack and see if either of them would be champion our requests. It seems Figma doesn’t seem to care enough about our industry to take action per our individual NGO’s. Perhaps we’d have more persuasion if it came one of those services?

Figma does not offer a free Professional plan for non-profit organizations. The Education plan provides free access to Professional features, but eligibility is limited to students and educators at accredited institutions, not non-profit entities.

For non-profits, Figma's standard pricing applies. If you're interested in discounted rates or exploring other options, consider reaching out to Figma's support team directly for assistance.

What is really unhelpful about this suggestion, which I'm sure you already know, is that you must have a Professional plan or an Education plan to even speak to a member of the Figma support team directly, otherwise we are recommended to post on the forum which obviously has already been done..

This is a run-around.

What’s annoying about this thread is that we’re confirming to Figma that we need them more than they need us and there isn’t much we can do to change that.

Folks, just apply for the Claude non-profit discount. Anthropic offers a 75% discount to all verified nonprofits, like any responsible software vendor does. Claude can literally do everything figma can do, and a million times more. Forget about figma, they are dying anyways and cannot afford to do what is socially responsible. Have a nice day.

Claude has some of the most restrictive token-based limitations (implemented overnight for paying customers, mind you) in the market and it is not a collaborative design tool. Anthropic is, in no way, “socially responsible”. WHile it is terrible that Figma gives us Nonprofits no love, Claude is not a viable alternative and AI “art” doesn’t beat collaborative design.

Canva and loads of other software vendors provide a 100% free account for Non-profits, so why can’t Figma do the same?
