Show Figma Buzz Variant properties when published

I created a component, with some variant and properties.
This component is then used in a Buzz template. This is then used to create social media assets.

When I first copy-past the component into the Buzz template file, the properties are here (all of them), and as soon as I publish the templates, they di (see attached screenshots).
Also, the nested properties work perfectly.

This is weird, is there anything I’m doing wrong, I don’t get it.

And I also noticed, that basically I cannot add Variant properties in a Buzz file, it just doesn’t work. Maybe there is a bug on and that is why it removes my orignal properties ?

Hi @Simeon1, thanks for reaching out!

We sent this over to the Figma Buzz team, and they confirmed that this is currently a product limitation.

It works before you publish the designs as a template because Buzz can still recognize the connection to the original library. However, once you publish as a template, we lose the connection to that library, so the feature no longer works.

We definitely feel your frustration though. This is definitely on our team’s roadmap to make variants meaningful in Figma Buzz. In the meantime, they’re considering adding a warning label during publishing or possibly pasting all variants into Buzz, if we detect you’re using a component containing variants. Would that help in the interim?

For now, I’ve updated your topic into a feature request, so we can gauge how this is affecting the overall community.

I have narrowed down a bug in Figma Buzz where it is impossible to insert an instance of a Component Set.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create a brand new, empty Figma file.

  2. Create two simple rectangles and combine them into a Component Set with a single property (e.g., Format: Square / Portrait).

  3. Copy this set into Figma Buzz and publish it.

  4. Try to add this asset in a new Buzz file.

Observed behavior: The "Inserting instance" loader appears for a split second and then disappears. No asset is placed on the canvas, and the editor remains on the "Copy & paste frames to get started" screen.

Expected behavior: The instance of the selected variant should be placed on the canvas.

Additional info:

  • Single components (without variants) work perfectly.

  • The issue persists even when no external libraries, styles, or variables are used.

  • I've confirmed it's not a "zoom" issue; no layer is created in the layers panel.
