Hi,

Shortcuts are great but not enough. I’d like to share an idea for improving the editing experience in Figma.

This concept is inspired by Windows Explorer. When you press Alt + Space, a context menu appears, and some shortcuts are underlined for quick access:

A similar approach could be implemented in Figma. For instance, pressing Alt (or Option on Mac) could underline available shortcuts, like this:

This would provide a more intuitive navigation experience and reduce the learning curve for users.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

Best regards,

In this record:

  • We show shortcuts with the Alt key.
  • We open the Frame menu with the F shortcut.

Hey @cihad! Thanks for the feedback - I passed it forward internally for consideration in a future experience update. I also modified your topic title to be more specific, but let me know if you think it could be better worded. I can modify it again 😀

Title does not match the content. It would be better to change it. Chatgpt suggested the following titles:

  • "Enhancing Shortcut Visibility for Intuitive Navigation in Figma"
  • "Introducing Shortcut Hints for a Streamlined Editing Experience"
  • "Shortcut Underline Suggestions for Faster Learning in Figma"
  • "Improving Figma’s UX with Shortcut Contextual Indicators"
  • "Shortcut Visualization Inspired by Windows Explorer"
  • "Simplifying Figma’s Learning Curve with Shortcut Hints"
  • "Boosting Editing Efficiency with Dynamic Shortcut Overlays"
  • "Contextual Shortcut Indicators: A Feature for Better Workflow"

I choose “Shortcut Contextual Indicators for Easy Editing Experience”

Sounds good! I just modified it - feel free to drop any additional feedback related to this in the replies.

If you have other separate requests, you can create a new topic with those comments separately 😀

Microsoft Office programs use this feature. I also had the chance to try it out in the past. I can say that it is really useful. Once you’ve got a taste for it, you can’t get enough.
