Sharing library across organizations

It’s 2024, and surprising that we don’t have this perk of sharing libraries privately. Some other platforms, such as Adobe XD, had that perk and was easy to share privately between agencies.

I would understand if the designer is using Figma for free but using enterprise license, which is quite expensive, don’t have this feature.

This should be a feature, surprised it is not. I hate how product company focussed Figma is, it’s not built well for agencies.

Having the same problem currently. I could understand if this was not available in the basic licenses, but at least with the organization account I feel like it should be an option to share certain files (libraries) with other organizations (agencies).
As a client I would want to have the library in my own Figma account and maybe have it maintained by external agencies. Many use cases which would justify such an option imho.

Example use case…

Organisation creates an Org wide Design System. None of their Agency partners can access or utilise any of their clients Digital Assets.

Copying files and components out has issues because you can’t duplicate teams, and a move loses all references.

Course an Organisation can invite all it’s agency partners into its own Figma Org at the cost of more seats - with Designers essentially being Billed multiple times for the same person.

When I switched to Figma one huge reason was that it allowed more collaboration.
This limitation seems to fly in the face of that. Totally understand if it was difficult and therefore not free, but at least there should be a way to make this happen 😦

I can’t stress how crucial it would be to repair this process - when working with external contractors it should be possible to share a library without inconveniencing both the contractor and the org!

Despite years of feedback this still looks to not be a focus for Figma (it’s not on the roadmap).

It’s one of the best ways to communicate your desire for change.

This is a huge blocker in the collaboration... Do you have any recommendations what to do or experience with workarounds for this issue since it looks like it's not a priority for Figma to fix this any time soon?

Is this something Figma is planning to address? We are an agency and have been moving to Figma and absolutely need to use the libraries of our clients. They expect a high level of collaboration with us.They constantly update their Figma library design system and we would waste countless hours having to manually update a copy on our side. Please share any insight into when this would be possible. This is a huge roadblock.

We are an agency running into the same problem. It is paramount for us to be able to share libraries to different organisations we’re working with. It’s been years, please add this.
