Setting to turn off automated lists

It means you have to disconnect colors from DS. Might be useful only for private sketches / small projects

Auto formatting is SO ANNOYING. Designing a fintech app where a lot of texts start with a “-” minus sign is a complete nightmare with Figma trying to change a minus sign for a bullet.

Also making it impossible to write a text like “24. 12. 2024” when Figma DECIDES on its OWN to change it for something else is absolutely ridiculous.

Still very much needed. In German we also write Dates like that! 8. Mai for May 8th etc. Please fix that!

+1 to this needing to be a user or document setting. I use FigJam to create UML diagrams and frequently use - to prefix private class members; I want it to be a dash 😦

I dunno who established this feature in first place i guess Microsoft Word. Which is super annoying. A system should have no intent to guess what the user wants to do and just does it.
Figma is a UI / UX Tool, so why progressing something without the intent of the user. It seems nobody thaught of the UX of this.

This is a very old thread and still active, so I guess Figma isn’t all to keen to fix this “minor inconvenience” that all of us are having. 

I agree that they should stop trying to guess our intent. Some date formats automatically goes to numbered list whenever I enter dates which are formatted as DD.MM.YYYY and it slows me down considerably. 

We shouldn’t have to rely on workarounds for things like this.

And don’t even get me started on spell check when you try to tab your way around text inputs - yes it’s a nice addition, but definitely the wrong key to what spell check deems as the “correct” word. The difference is, we can turn off spell check! 

If we can turn off spell check, why can’t we turn off auto formatting?  

Should have been part of “little big updates” long ago. Providing the option to turn things on/off is a no-brainer no one hurts.

Is there any Update on this?

Just wanted to report this. For e.g. German speakers this is really annoying as writing dates like 7. instead of 7th is common. 

This is driving me insane. I am creating a project management tool in German which basically consists of dates and it takes me double the amount of time because with all the lagging that Figma does when typing text, I have to take a break after every number I write, then go CTRL-Z, then continue writing. Sometimes I forget I have to do this, so I have to delete the entire number and write it again. Not only that it creates list automatically, for some reason the spacing of the numbers in list style is different than normal, and also it throws out every 0 before a number, so it turns 17. April into 1 7 April and 02. Juni into 2. Juni. 

I really don’t see how this “Feature” is supposed to be helpful, I have not once been in a situation where I wanted to create an actual numbered list and desperately needed it to be auto-formatted. If I want a list, I will format it as a list myself. 

It would be the easiest to just turn off this feature, so please, turn it off.
