I’m a daily Figma user working on large design files, and I’ve been experiencing a consistent workflow interruption caused by the current focus behavior.
Whenever I click on panels such as Layers, Assets, or the Properties panel, the canvas loses interaction focus. To continue working (move objects, pan, zoom, etc.), I have to click back on the canvas each time.
In fast-paced design workflows, this creates repetitive extra clicks and slows navigation significantly.
It would be extremely helpful to have an optional setting that allows: • keeping the canvas interaction active, or
• automatically returning focus to the canvas after selecting a layer or property
This would make multi-panel workflows much smoother and improve efficiency for power users working on complex files.
