Hi

Just wanted to give a general UI Pro feedback.

I work with design software for more than 20 years. I adapt very quickly to new options and I consider myself very selective with what I work with.

Working with Adobe since the beginning, I added Figma to the toolset a couple of years ago.

I have a mix of the best tools (for me) for my line of work: Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After Effects, Bricks Builder, Audition, VS Code, Dreamweaver (stopped using it after nonsense updates) and Figma.

I consider myself an advanced user in all of them.

This is not to grab myself, it's just to accentuate the fact that I have a strong working instinct and experience with these kind of tools.

What they all have in common is the fact that they are built for professionals: optimized for productivity and with a consistent and customizable UI. And that's also the fact they last for so long.

Figma appeared in a middle ground. It had a not so professional UI but it had new features and some obvious functionality missing in the others.

Of course, it was aiming for pros but also for a more general audience. All of this helped Figma grow a lot.

But now I'm feeling some consistency is missing. I think it's time to make a choice: consistency with one solution or to make a 2 way ride: Pro vs General User or Pro OR General User.

Instead of trying to satisfy both (specially with the UI) why not make a toggle button to choose from one mode to the other.

"Pro" level could have a cleaner working area, simple, more compact and clean toolbars and icons.

"General User" could be more loose and fun for the user.

Or just one customizable one.

I think it would even be more productive to Figma. Instead of spending time satisfying both and going fw and back so many times, it would be just a consistent 2 way fw with small improvements in each path.

But please, don't make a pro work with fun tools.

Thank you

Hello

I was trying to edit the post but now it's not possible, so, I'll leave here as reply.

My initial post was a bit hash, it was on the heat of the moment, frustrated by having that bottom toolbar "in the way".

Figma has a very pro UI of course - and that's why I also use it. Some things don't work so well but, obviously, it's a great tool.

And they are always searching for better solutions, and listening to feedback which is great and rare.

So, the only things feeling really off right now are the bottom toolbar and the thumbnails of all the layers in the layers panel. Maybe on the top ones would be enough? But even then could be optional.

Thanks for listening
