Issue:

  • Currently, the Community tab automatically closes when switching to another tab, and the app does not save the last viewed state for the next access.
  • I can’t see the pin tab function in the action menu of this tab
Can not find the pin action

The new flow update when browsing the community has bad UX:
I search by my prompt, got the results, and I want to open several suggested materials, but when I open one of them, the community page closes so I have to open it again and do same search again to see my other options, it is so bad in terms of UX.

Why on earth did you remove the community tab? Now, not only is the button back in its old spot at the bottom of the page, but there's also the issue that when browsing the community and clicking on a file, the tab closes — meaning you have to open it again and start from scratch. Really frustrating.

Oluwatobiloba_Samuel

Same here. It is frustrating having no saved state.

Hey All, thanks for flagging this!

With the recent release of Templates and tools, the new entry point for the Community is now through Home > Templates and tools. You can also go directly to figma.com/community in the browser.

We hear your frustration though. I’ve updated this topic into a feature request and passed this feedback onto the Community team for reconsideration.

I second this, I do not know why there was a change to this. It helped me with my productivity now I have to click all the time and I cannot even pin it.

I spend many time looking for this tab, and always get very nervous. Not the best us decision for sure,

Can't agree more, community is a great resource center. Removing the entrance is a big mistake!

Yeah, I’ve never felt that frustrated using Figma before. It’s insane that I have to start the search from scratch every time I open a project, and it goes against everything we’re used to with most software and browsers.

Also the back button does not work.

Michael Phillips

Yeah, I noticed that too, and it's been pretty annoying. Having to reopen the community tab every time you view a file really breaks the flow. It felt smoother before. Hopefully, they bring back a better way to navigate without constantly resetting everything.

And for some reason community is hiden under dropdown > My community profile > Search
So 3 steps instead a link, really annoing. I loved pined community near the homescreen in tabs in previous version. It’s a small tab, so it’s wont take a lot of space from tabs. You can return small community tab, just an icon.

Hey All, thank you for your continued feedback!

Is the most frustration from not being able to save your browse state with Templates and Tools?

The team would like to point out that you can keep Templates and Tools open in the file browser and open any new community files in a new tab. You should then be able to return to your home tab which should have retained your previous browse state.

Ellaine_Gabotero

Hey @dvaliao  — just wanted to share a bit of feedback I’ve encountered while using the community tab.

So, when I click on my community profile, it redirects me to my profile as expected, which is great. But when I open a the tab where I am currently designing (since that’s how I usually work — switching between tabs), the community tab I just opened gets automatically removed without me closing it.

The tricky part is that unlike other tabs, I also can’t pin the community tab, which makes it a bit frustrating when juggling multiple resources.

There wasn’t this behavior before, so I’m wondering if there’s a way to bring back the option to pin the community tab or prevent it from auto-closing? Would be super helpful for productivity.

Appreciate you looking into this when you can.

@shashik Thank you for the  update.

Just wondering though — is there still hope for the Community tab to be pinned back? I feel like it’s always good to give people multiple pathways to access the community. Can never go wrong with more options!

Thank you!

Hi @Ellaine_Gabotero, thanks for your feedback!

I’ve passed this onto our Community team, who is reevaluating this recent change. While I can’t make any promises, they are definitely listening and considering how this change has impacted users.

Department of Unnecessary Innovation at it again… Community is nearly unusable at this point because Figma keeps overengineering everything, making difficult to access and unusable. I wish they realized they can just leave things alone instead of flooding us with redesign fatigue on every feature.

I’m fine with getting to community a new way, however, whenever I open something from there it auto closes the tab and I have to go back through all those steps again. why can’t once it’s open it stay open?

Beyond frustrating

Joseph_Kaguri

This is a scenario of person with no work deciding to adjust things that have worked really well. Wasted time looking for the community link.

Peter_Broomfield

I definitely miss having the dedicated tab. Not having it makes it really hard to explore the community inside the desktop version.

It’s still there, you can open it through your community profile
