Yeah, that totally makes sense. Bit of a hot topic, especially for me as both a senior art director and graphic design teacher who is very much against any gen AI related tools. So I hope Figma don’t end up going that route like you described because I still consider the intrinsic value in doing everything yourself, manually (which is and should be the point of what we do), especially in the formative years of younger designers and students where understanding what they do, how they do it and why they do it is a must.

I can understand your perspective fully. However I am not really against AI, Not completely. I believe the fundamental and experience is necessary for any designers (or any other jobs). To learn, & to know “whys” behind decisions. I think what AI should do eventually, is to speed up things. Validating the result and the last touch still can/should be in the hands of humans.

Some of my non-designer coworkers used to say they could replace designers by AI. They thought it is easy to just ask an AI to design. I didn’t stop them to do the experiment and they failed badly. because even if they could describe their own idea, or ask AI to improve their Idea, they couldn’t track the mistakes or detect the lack of consistency in their results. They couldn’t see the flaws and after a few weeks, problems started to emerge. They realized maybe they still need a designer to give them proper prompt, and do the final edits & finally approve the result.

I used AI to increase the speed of the process of making a design-system myself recently, but before that, I kinda forced myself to do it manually and research about different aspect, because without the knowledge, how could I know if the result is what I actually needed?

I understand your concerns & I fully believe that AI should not remove the learning stage of any designer. Same as invention of calculator, it didn’t stop people to still learn how to multiply or to divide. you know? Without Intuition, Result has no meaning. Every progress has a downside, too. All we need is to know the capabilities & decide to use it properly, without damaging the essence of meaning & quality itself.

Can we have an estimate on when this feature is expected to release ? The topic is 5 years old and it’s the 4th most popular Suggest a feature thread.

Without this scroll-trigger for scroll offsets, animation the new MOTION tools is pretty much limited to HERO elements or cutesy button animations.

It’s insane that they keep adding way more complex features, but they’re still completely ignoring this.
I honestly think that they just absolutely don’t care or can’t be bothered and are mostly interested in pushing agents related features now. Y’know, like everyone else apparently.

It is unbelievable that such a fundamental feature for modern web prototyping hasn't been implemented yet; so many people have been clamoring for it. But nothing—we’re forced to use "on drag" or "after delay"? Those are just really poor workarounds. Come on—when clients test a prototype, they scroll intuitively with the mouse wheel. It shouldn't require explaining things like "this goes here" or "there will be an animation there"; this is a feature that should have been there from day one, yet here we are in 2026 and it’s still missing. I think Figma is a great tool, but instead of adding all these AI features or new gadgets, they should first give us total control over our prototypes—everything else comes second. Please give us this functionality; it’s been requested for years.

Dear Figma Gods… its been a while. 🙇🏽

I use Figma everyday to honour you, and to meet the everyday challenges set my our glorious clients. I accept there are limitations to even your greatness but your glory and worth is bountiful.

It has been a long time since I’ve requested anything, and I’ve not pestered your for the ability to add line height as a variable for some months now.

Can you please oh might one, look to add an ‘On scroll’ functionality, it would help your design disciples so… so much, to allow us to make the prototypes we so dearly want to show clients and show off to our creative communities in your name.

Oh Figma Lords ,please hear my words and those of the other disciples.

In Figma We Trust

Amen. 🙏🏼

Hi @cux and @Peter Scott, thanks for your patience and honest feedback!

I’ve merged your topic with this existing, similar one in the Community. It’s easier for my team here on the forum to advocate for feature requests when community feedback is organized under one topic. Please know that this on our team’s roadmap for the future, but we don’t have an exact timeline to share yet.

We’ll be sure to provide an update here, if/when we have a more concrete update from the team.

The people who first asked for this feature are 5 years older, do you realize? Is this a joke or what? You should listen to your customers' requests (don't take it as a threat, but as advice) it takes “as we have already seen in the past” just a moment to go from riches to rags.
