I am using Figma from almost 2 years. It’s a great tool. Previously I was using Windows 10 yet recently switched to Linux(Ubuntu). Figma doesn’t have any official release for Linux. There are some Unofficial desktop versions but they are “BUGGY”. I request you guys to release an official Figma desktop app for Linux.

Without Linux support, developers on Linux cannot take advantage of the MCP support! This is pretty bad for those of us who have to use Linux for development.

I just installed the Debian Package from GitHub.  Its the unofficial app.  So please count that as a +1 for Figma to create an Official Package.

Anyways, I’m happy now.

Unfortunately, there will be no official figma app.  That's how the support team answered me.
They plan to make it more convenient to work with fonts for the web application, but not more.
At the moment they have no goals to create a separate desktop application for linux.

That’s unfortunate especially as Desktop Linux has now reached 6%.

Let’s see… with the way things are going with Windows 10 EOL and the high hardware requirements of Windows 11, I bet you Linux at 10% market share is right around the corner.  That should technically be enough for each company to start building an AppImage if not a FlatPak package.

Same here, recently migrated from Windows to Linux with Pop OS as my daily driver and for development work, and sad to see that Figma desktop app is missing. All my other dev workflow toolings have first hand support for Linux. How am I supposed to use Figma dev mode MCP now which is part of my dev workflow?

You can find an alternative to Figma. Or use a virtual machine for work. Or use Windows for work and Linux for life.

Figma has made it clear that they have no plans to release a separate app for Linux.

If I were you, I would first try to find an alternative to Figma. They exist, and they all support Linux.

Oh yes, I will definitely be looking into alternatives. For this project my team has already started on Figma, so I will have to use a windows VM as a workaround. But the problem with that is, Figma MCP only binds to the loopback address currently. So I will need to see how I can make the MCP accessible outside the VM. Mann this is so frustrating. These guys don't make it easy for the Devs, do they?

And no, I am not going back to windows as my daily driver.

That’s 6% across the general population, amongst developers it is around 25% already, and higher than that I’d wager for web developers.

I would be quite happy to use Figma on the web (since it’s not me doing the design bit) if it had MCP support, but a bit shocked that there’s no Linux support in 2025 when I’m running even Microsoft VS Code natively on Linux!

Thankfully, our agency is one of the few not already using Figma, so I’m free to just find something else that fits better with our workflows from design to dev. -1 customer Figma!

There’s already an unofficial repository, why not make it official? Or at least, provide an updated version which the unofficial team can work on? We’ll fund those guys to help you guys get this going.
