Hi,
I’ve noticed something about the “Follow” feature that’s been bothering me a bit.
When someone follows me in Figma, there isn’t a clear or persistent indicator on my side that I’m being followed. I can’t really tell who is following me, when they start, or if someone is currently viewing my screen.
That lack of visibility feels uncomfortable, especially in team environments. I might be navigating early drafts, messy explorations, internal notes, or sensitive frames without realizing someone is actively watching. It’s not necessarily about hiding anything — it’s more about awareness and transparency.
From a workflow perspective, it can also be disruptive. If someone is following me for a review or to understand something specific, I might switch contexts or move too quickly without knowing they’re there.
In larger teams or companies, this could even raise minor security or compliance concerns, since work-in-progress or confidential material might be viewed unintentionally.
I think it would really help to have:
-
A clear visual indicator when someone starts following
-
A persistent “X is following you” status
-
Maybe even an optional control to approve or disable being followed
Right now it just feels like something is happening in the background without the user being fully aware of it.
Thanks for taking a look into this.
Best,
