So, in our design system we want to apply variables to our text styles to ensure consistent letter spacing. Since we want to use different letter spacing depending on the mode (light mode/dark mode), we’d like to apply these variables to the text style and assign different values to them.
However, as Figma uses percentages for letter spacing, it’s not really possible to achieve this properly. Variables can’t hold percentages, and therefore we can’t fully make use of this feature at the moment.
I hope Figma will soon allow us to choose the format we want to use for letter spacing globally.
Does anyone have a solution for this problem?
