I change my section background color to 10% black. The layer labels are barely visible requiring me to create my own labels so partners know what layers I’m referencing. Is there a way to set the default label color so it is visible?

I would add a screenshot but you can’t see anything. Doh!

Alternatively, is there a way for Figma to auto detect the background color and set the label text so it passes accessibility contrast ratios? Seems like an accessibility bug.

The layer label color is automatic and it can detect the bg, but only if it’s not translucent since the color is based on the contrast of the exact color without factoring the opacity.

My advice is to not use translucent colors.

Thank you Raphael_M! That did the trick. I would have never guessed that was the reason. I still think the label color should factor in opacity and treat it as a cumulative value of the perceived background. Seems like lots of tools already solve this so it would just require someone at Figma to add a few more lines of code. Oh well.

or give us the ability to access the label and change it’s size and color.
