I really appreciate how much Figma has invested in Dev Mode and AI features. With MCP support and AI-assisted workflows, Figma is becoming an essential tool not only for designers, but also for developers.
However, I think there is a growing group of users that doesn't fit well into the current pricing model: solo developers and small teams without dedicated designers.
I'm currently a paying Professional subscriber because it's the only plan that gives me access to the developer features I need.Â
As a solo developer, however, I mainly use Figma for:
- MCP integration with AI coding assistants
- AI-generated UI designs
- Editing designs with prompts
- Inspecting layouts
- Generating code from designs
I rarely use advanced collaboration features, team libraries, branching, or other designer-focused capabilities included in the Professional plan.
I would love to see a new plan designed specifically for AI-first developers. It could be a lower-cost individual subscription that includes Dev Mode, MCP, AI design, and AI code generation, while excluding most team collaboration features.
I believe this wouldn't just benefit users like me—it could also help Figma attract a much larger audience of independent developers, indie makers, and small engineering teams who are building products with AI but don't have professional designers.
I'd happily remain a paying customer if there were a plan better aligned with solo AI-assisted development.
AI is changing how software is built, and many developers are now using Figma as part of their development workflow rather than a traditional design workflow. A dedicated developer-focused plan could significantly expand Figma's paying user base.
While I'm already a paying Professional subscriber, I suspect there are many developers with similar workflows who remain on the Free plan because the Professional plan includes many features they don't need. A developer-focused plan could convert many of those users into paying customers.

Another common scenario is working with external developers or contractors.
Today, many companies share Figma files with developers who are not members of their design team. These developers usually only need view access, Dev Mode, AI-assisted design exploration, and code generation. They don't need editing permissions or collaboration features, and they often shouldn't be added as full members of the organization's workspace.
It would be great if these developers could simply subscribe to their own AI Developer plan, receive viewer-level access to shared files, and use Dev Mode and AI features independently. This would make collaboration much easier for companies while creating another path for developers to become paying Figma users.

Thank you for building such an amazing product, and I hope you'll consider this opportunity.
