Like stated, two years ago in this post that somehow got zero traction, Figma still lacks an important feature. One that I think is paramount to the direction that they are moving in with more and more functionality for Auto Layout, and especially grids.

Can we please get a feature that allows users to designate a focal point on the image so that when it’s set to fill in layouts that are using the auto layout feature, the image crops accordingly. This would allow images to be much more flexible and powerful in layouts. As the previous post states, Wix.com has this feature, so it’s not some pipe dream that designers are asking for.
