Guest Comments & Voting for Clients w/o Account

Adding another: This is a necessary feature. It certainly means we will share less via links, forcing us to output PDFs in antiquated fashion.

There do seem to be workarounds with plugins, but that is also causing “us”, the core users, more pain.

Over 4 years since this was posted and it still doesn’t exist? Figma, maybe prioritize a bit more what your users actually care about with your core product.

We upvote this too. Our clients need to be able to share a comment on a file without needing to create an account. 

Can’t believe it’s been 4 years since this was originally posted, and this feature still isn’t available. Adding to the list of users who want this feature, clients are getting frustrated that they need to make accounts to review work.

Hello, as a communications agency, it is essential for us to be able to share our designs with clients without them having to log in and to allow them to add comments.
Figma, please make this feature available as soon as possible so that we don't all have to switch to Google Suite and use Google Slides for presentations.

The most troubling thing about creating the account for comments is what happens during and after the onboarding.

Right now the onboarding feels like setting up a Figma account in general. I think the prototype commenting onboarding should be different form the ‘general’ account setup onboarding. Just fill in a name, email address (maybe even make a whitelist of email addresses that can be used for commenting to prevent spam), and then go back directly to the prototype again to start placing comments.
 

But now, after onboarding the client lands on their “workspace dashboard”, while they only want to comment on the prototype of their website. For a client this is a huge loss of context, and unless I don’t make it explicitly clear to my client that they have to click the prototype link in an e-mail/message again after onboarding, they’re completely lost (“Why do I see a dashboard? Where is my prototype?”) 🤷🏻‍♂️

Totally feel this. Asking a client to create a Figma account just to look at two screens is genuinely friction that costs you trust.

I built part of what's being asked for here — the "view without an account" side. It's a Figma plugin called Framely. You mark which frames you want the client to see, it generates a clean prototype page in your file, and you share a standard Figma prototype link. No Figma account needed to view it, no WIP clutter visible, just the frames you chose.

What I haven't solved — and want to be upfront about — is the commenting piece. Clients viewing via the prototype link can't leave comments without a Figma account. That's still the core ask in this thread and I'm not there yet.

If anyone's built the commenting layer on top of something like this, I'd genuinely love to know how you approached it. you can check framelyforme.com — very much a work in progress, but the sharing part works.

Why is this still not a thing that is possible. This is incredibly frustrating for our clients to have to login. I have been avoiding switching over to this product from XD for this reason. Clients need to be able to comment without being logged in. PLEASE!

Our clients don’t login, they dislike being asked to sign up for something and feel like we’ve forced this on them.  It really puts people off.  Most just send us word docs with feedback on, or screenshots.  It’s so backwards, this has been a feature request for 5 years now.  Figma will be left behind as someone will make this possible.
